AI takes on breast cancer screening: could one radiologist replace two?
NCT ID NCT07075679
First seen Apr 02, 2026 · Last updated Apr 24, 2026 · Updated 4 times
Summary
This study is testing whether a single radiologist using artificial intelligence (AI) can read mammograms just as well as the current standard of two radiologists reading them without AI. About 8,000 women aged 45-69 who are part of a breast cancer screening program will take part. The goal is to see if AI-assisted reading can maintain cancer detection rates while possibly reducing the need for two radiologists.
