AI takes on dentists: could a computer help control prediabetes?

NCT ID NCT06980701

First seen Jan 07, 2026 · Last updated Jun 12, 2026 · Updated 27 times

Summary

This study looks at whether artificial intelligence (AI) can give personalized tooth-brushing and flossing advice as effectively as a dentist for people with prediabetes. The goal is to reduce gum inflammation and potentially improve blood sugar levels. About 148 adults with prediabetes and gum disease will be randomly assigned to get advice from either a dentist or an AI program. Researchers will check gum health and blood sugar at 3 and 9 months to see which approach works better.
