Can AI translate health info as well as a pro?
NCT ID NCT07666399
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jul 01, 2026 · Updated 2 times
Summary
This study compares health resources translated by professional translators versus artificial intelligence. Researchers will ask 576 parents who speak Mandarin, Punjabi, Tagalog, or Urdu to evaluate how clear and useful each translation is. The goal is to see if AI can make health information more accessible to families whose first language is not English.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
artificial intelligence translation
What this could lead to
If successful, this could show that AI can cheaply and quickly translate health materials, making them more accessible to non-English-speaking parents.
What could go wrong
This is an early-stage study focused on understanding preferences and understanding, not on health outcomes. AI translations may still be less accurate or clear than professional ones.
