AI vs. Post-Surgery confusion: can a computer alert stop a dangerous complication?

NCT ID NCT05777187

Summary

This study tested if a computer alert system could help prevent post-surgery delirium, a dangerous state of sudden confusion, in patients with existing memory problems. The system flagged high-risk patients and gave doctors reminders about 12 best practices during surgery, like avoiding certain medications and carefully managing blood pressure. The goal was to see if these reminders led to better care and fewer cases of delirium.
