AI takes on Pre-Surgery checkups: will it match the doctor?
NCT ID NCT07290647
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study will test whether an artificial intelligence (AI) tool can accurately assess patients before surgery. 270 adults scheduled for elective non-cardiac surgeries will use the AI to answer questions about their health. A doctor will then do a standard evaluation without seeing the AI's results. A third doctor will compare both assessments to see how well they agree. The goal is to see if AI can help make pre-surgery preparation safer and more efficient.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
AI-based pre-anesthetic assessment tool
What this could lead to
If successful, this AI tool could help streamline pre-surgery assessments, making them more efficient and accessible in Brazilian hospitals.
What could go wrong
This is an early observational study with only 270 patients at one hospital. The AI may not match human judgment, and results may not apply to other settings.
