AI could eliminate one of two brain scans for Alzheimer's patients

NCT ID NCT07431255

First seen Feb 25, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 6 times

Summary

This study tests a new AI method that could create one type of brain scan (FDG PET) from another (amyloid PET) using existing data from 35 Alzheimer's patients. If successful, future patients might only need one scan instead of two, reducing radiation, cost, and time. No new scans or procedures are done—only existing medical images are analyzed.
