AI reads blood flow to predict if heart stents will work
NCT ID NCT07724184
First seen Jul 23, 2026 · Last updated Jul 24, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests whether a machine learning model can predict the outcome of a common heart procedure — placing a stent to open a hardened, calcified artery. Researchers will measure blood flow and pressure before and after the procedure in 100 adults with coronary artery disease. The goal is to see if the AI can accurately forecast whether the stent successfully restores blood flow.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- machine learning model integrating coronary flow and pressure measurements
- What this could lead to
- If successful, this AI tool could help doctors predict which patients will benefit most from coronary stenting, potentially improving outcomes and reducing repeat procedures.
- What could go wrong
- This is a small, early-stage study focused on data analysis, not a treatment. The AI model may not generalize to broader populations or different hospital settings.
