AI predicts lung cancer risk – but how do patients react?

NCT ID NCT07458425

First seen Mar 11, 2026 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 11 times

Summary

This study looks at how 400 adults (ages 50–80) who smoke or used to smoke feel about an artificial intelligence tool that estimates their risk of getting lung cancer in the next 3 years. Researchers will survey participants before and after they receive their risk results to measure emotional impact, health beliefs, and whether they follow up with recommended lung scans or quit smoking. The goal is to understand patient reactions, not to treat or prevent cancer directly.
