AI vs. doctor: who diagnoses better?

NCT ID NCT07408167

First seen Jun 27, 2026 ยท Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study will see if using an AI model helps pathologists (doctors who diagnose diseases from tissue samples) work better. Over 2000 patients will have their cases reviewed by pathologists, some using AI assistance and some not. The goal is to compare accuracy, speed, and confidence in diagnoses.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only โ€” not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance
AI model
What this could lead to
If successful, this could show that AI helps pathologists diagnose diseases faster and more accurately, especially for less experienced doctors.
What could go wrong
This is an early-stage study testing AI assistance in a controlled setting. Real-world results may differ, and AI might not improve accuracy for all pathologists.
