AI assistant for cancer diagnosis: will it help doctors spot tumors better?
NCT ID NCT07291362
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tests whether an artificial intelligence (AI) model can help pathologists diagnose gastric cancer more accurately and quickly. About 1000 patients with gastric biopsies or surgical samples will take part. Some pathologists will use the AI tool to assist their diagnosis, while others will work as usual. The goal is to see if AI improves accuracy, speed, and confidence, especially for less experienced pathologists.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
AI pathology model
What this could lead to
If successful, this could show that AI helps pathologists diagnose gastric cancer faster and more accurately, especially for less experienced doctors.
What could go wrong
This is a diagnostic study, not a treatment trial. The AI may not improve accuracy for all pathologists, and results may not apply to other cancers or settings.
