AI assistant could sharpen eye injection choices
NCT ID NCT07328776
First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This trial tests an artificial intelligence system called QiLin that helps doctors decide when to give anti-VEGF injections for retinal diseases like wet AMD, DME, and RVO. About 200 patients who have completed initial treatment will be randomly assigned to have their doctor use the AI or not. The main goal is to see if AI-assisted decisions match expert recommendations more often than doctor-only decisions.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
QiLin artificial intelligence system
What this could lead to
If successful, this AI tool could help doctors make more accurate decisions about anti-VEGF injections, potentially improving outcomes for patients with retinal diseases.
What could go wrong
This is an early-stage trial with 200 participants. The AI may not perform as well in real-world settings as in lab tests, and its benefit over standard care is unproven.
