AI-Powered heart check could spot silent disease in minutes

NCT ID NCT06891222

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study tests whether combining an AI-enhanced electrocardiogram (ECG) with a focused heart ultrasound can better detect structural heart disease in people without symptoms. About 2,705 adults with no known heart problems will get an AI-ECG, and if it flags a concern, they'll also get a quick ultrasound. The goal is to see if this approach catches more cases of hidden heart conditions like weak heart muscle or narrowed valves.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

AI-ECG and focused cardiac ultrasound

What this could lead to

If successful, this could make heart disease screening faster and easier, catching problems early with just an ECG and a quick ultrasound.

What could go wrong

This is an early-stage screening study, not a treatment trial. The AI may not be accurate enough, and results may not apply to everyone.
