AI reads your ECG to catch silent heart danger before surgery
NCT ID NCT07344207
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests whether an artificial intelligence system can analyze standard heart tracings (ECGs) to detect pulmonary hypertension—a serious but often unnoticed condition—before surgery. About 1,380 adults scheduled for non-cardiac surgery will be randomly assigned to get the AI screening or usual care. The goal is to see if the AI finds more cases and helps reduce surgical complications.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Artificial intelligence-enabled electrocardiography system
What this could lead to
If it works, this could become a routine, low-cost way to catch dangerous heart conditions before surgery, potentially preventing complications.
What could go wrong
This is an early-stage trial with no phase assigned, so the AI may not be accurate enough in real-world use. It also only looks at detection, not treatment.
