AI eye on the heart: new tool could catch silent attacks
NCT ID NCT07077057
First seen Jun 27, 2026 ยท Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tests whether an artificial intelligence (AI) tool can help doctors identify heart attacks that standard ECG tests miss. About 500 adults with chest pain but no clear signs of a heart attack on their initial ECG will be randomly assigned to get either AI-assisted or standard ECG reading. The goal is to see if the AI speeds up treatment and reduces heart damage.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only โ not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- AI-assisted ECG interpretation (PMcardio)
- What this could lead to
- If it works, this could help doctors detect heart attacks earlier in people whose initial ECG looks normal, potentially saving heart muscle and lives.
- What could go wrong
- This is a single-center trial with 500 people, so results may not apply everywhere. The AI tool is an aid, not a replacement for a doctor's judgment, and could still miss some cases.
