AI could replace second brain scan for Alzheimer's patients

NCT ID NCT07431255

Summary

This study tests whether artificial intelligence (AI) can create one type of brain scan image from another, using existing patient data. Currently, diagnosing Alzheimer's often requires two separate scans. If successful, this AI method could reduce radiation exposure, costs, and time for future patients by potentially eliminating the need for one scan. The study involves analyzing data from about 35 adults who already had both scans as part of their routine care.
