Smartphone AI and volunteers team up to fight gum disease in seniors

NCT ID NCT07187453

Summary

This study is testing whether a smartphone app that uses artificial intelligence (AI) to check gum health, combined with personalized cleaning advice from trained volunteers, can improve oral health for older adults. 88 participants in Hong Kong will have their gum health monitored and receive bi-weekly, tailored instructions on brushing and flossing for up to a year. The goal is to see if this tech-supported coaching approach helps reduce gum inflammation and plaque better than usual care.
