NCT ID NCT05240885

First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study looks at how aging changes the way your body uses energy and nutrients, and how that relates to physical and mental decline. Researchers will track 100 healthy and frail older adults using special tracer infusions to measure metabolism. The goal is to better understand why some people age well while others don't, which could one day lead to ways to promote healthier aging.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

What this could lead to

If successful, this research could help identify early markers of unhealthy aging, potentially guiding future interventions to maintain physical and cognitive function in older adults.

What could go wrong

This is an observational study, not a treatment trial. It will not directly benefit participants and may not lead to immediate clinical applications. Results depend on a small, specific group and may not apply to all older adults.
