Scientists search skin for clues to why cancer risk rises with age

NCT ID NCT02553954

Summary

This study aimed to understand why older people are more likely to get certain cancers. Researchers collected small samples of healthy skin from 58 people in two age groups (18-40 and 55+) who were having surgery for a different condition. They analyzed these samples in a lab to look for specific markers of cellular aging, hoping to learn how aging makes tissues more prone to becoming cancerous.
