Heart treatment breakthrough? balloon could replace stents for blocked arteries

Summary
This study is testing whether a special drug-coated balloon can work as well as or better than standard stents for treating newly blocked heart arteries. About 1,600 adults with coronary artery disease will be randomly assigned to receive either the balloon treatment or the usual stent procedure. The main goal is to see if the balloon approach reduces the need for repeat procedures at the same spot while avoiding permanent metal implants.
