Scent of serenity: agarwood aromatherapy put to the test for exhausted hospital workers
NCT ID NCT07188831
First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 26, 2026
Summary
This study tests whether inhaling agarwood essential oil while sleeping can reduce fatigue and improve sleep quality in hospital staff. About 78 participants will use either an agarwood sachet or a placebo (almond oil) near their bed for one week. Researchers will measure changes in fatigue and sleep using standard questionnaires.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
agarwood essential oil
What this could lead to
If it works, this could offer hospital staff a safe, easy way to reduce fatigue and sleep better without medication.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage trial with only 78 participants. The placebo effect is strong with aromatherapy, so results may not show a clear benefit.
