Smart alerts aim to slash stroke risk in heart patients

NCT ID NCT06355986

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study tests whether an electronic alert in doctors' computers can increase the use of blood thinners to prevent strokes in people with atrial fibrillation (an irregular heartbeat). About 2,500 high-risk patients who are not currently on blood thinners will take part. The goal is to see if the alert helps doctors prescribe the right medication and reduces major bleeding risks.
