Researchers probe hidden hormone crisis in ICU patients
NCT ID NCT00156767
Summary
This study aimed to better understand and define adrenal insufficiency, a condition where the body doesn't produce enough stress hormones, in people who are critically ill. Researchers observed 225 participants, including ICU patients, healthy volunteers, and people with known adrenal problems, to see how common it is and how it develops. The goal was to gather information to help create better future tests for diagnosing this condition in hospital settings.
