Quit smoking while fighting cancer: new study tests combined approach
NCT ID NCT02540174
First seen Mar 19, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 9 times
Summary
This study looked at whether offering a structured program to help patients quit smoking and reduce alcohol use, as part of their initial cancer treatment, works better than just giving advice. It included 133 adults with a first-time head/neck or lung cancer who were still smoking. The goal was to see if more patients could stay smoke-free for a year with the integrated program.
