Acupuncture and gloves: a new hope against chemo nerve pain?

NCT ID NCT07377279

First seen Jun 27, 2026 ยท Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study tests whether wearing compression gloves and stockings during chemo, plus acupuncture after, can prevent nerve damage (peripheral neuropathy) in breast cancer patients. About 384 people will be randomly assigned to one of four groups: compression only, acupuncture only, both, or a sham acupuncture. The goal is to see if these simple, non-drug methods can reduce the high rate of nerve pain and numbness that often forces patients to cut back on life-saving chemo.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only โ€” not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance
acupuncture and compression therapy (latex gloves and compression stockings)
What this could lead to
If it works, this could provide a simple, low-cost way to prevent nerve damage from chemotherapy, helping breast cancer patients complete their treatment with fewer side effects.
What could go wrong
This is a single trial with no phase designation, so results are uncertain. The interventions are non-drug and may not be effective for everyone. Also, the study is still recruiting, so outcomes are not yet known.
