Needles and pressure points tested to ease dementia symptoms

NCT ID NCT04305951

Summary

This study tested whether combining two traditional Chinese medicine techniques—acupuncture and acupressure—could help elderly people with mild to moderate dementia. Researchers enrolled 236 participants from care homes and assigned them to receive either standard care, acupuncture, acupressure, or both treatments together for 12 weeks. The main goal was to see if these treatments could improve memory, thinking skills, daily independence, mood, sleep, and pain levels compared to routine care alone.
