Ancient touch technique tested to calm nerves before major surgery

NCT ID NCT05325307

Summary

This study tested whether applying acupressure (gentle pressure on specific body points) could help reduce anxiety and stabilize blood pressure and heart rate in patients about to undergo bladder removal surgery. Researchers compared real acupressure to a placebo version in 60 patients. The goal was to see if this non-drug method could make the pre-surgery experience less stressful.
