Can sound waves quiet the ringing in your ears?

NCT ID NCT07472257

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study tested whether playing specific sounds can temporarily reduce the loudness of tinnitus (ringing in the ears). Forty-five adults with chronic tinnitus listened to personalized sound clips for 3 minutes and 20 minutes. Researchers measured how much the tinnitus quieted down right after the sounds stopped. The goal was to find the best sound and duration for short-term relief.
