Stem cell gel takes on acne in new trial
NCT ID NCT07504822
First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests three different gels for mild-to-moderate acne: a standard clindamycin-retinoid combo, a clindamycin-retinoid-dexamethasone combo, and a gel made from stem-cell secretions (secretome). About 189 people will use one of the three gels for 8 weeks. Researchers will check if the secretome gel reduces pimples and improves skin quality as well as or better than the other treatments, with fewer side effects.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
stem-cell secretome gel (from human umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cells)
What this could lead to
If it works, this could offer a new, potentially safer topical option for treating mild-to-moderate acne without antibiotics or steroids.
What could go wrong
This is an early-phase (1/2) study with only 189 people, so results may not apply to everyone. The secretome gel is experimental and its long-term safety is unknown.
