Knee surgery showdown: does an extra ligament fix improve ACL recovery?
NCT ID NCT06809920
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study looks at people with torn anterior cruciate ligaments (ACL) who get surgery and then do physiotherapy. It compares standard ACL reconstruction to a version that also repairs another knee ligament (ALL). The goal is to see which approach leads to better knee stability, strength, and function over nine months. About 26 adults aged 18 to 50 are taking part.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
physiotherapy
What this could lead to
If successful, this could show that adding an extra ligament reconstruction improves knee stability and recovery after ACL surgery.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage study with only 26 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. The extra surgery also carries standard surgical risks.
