ACL surgery assumption questioned: new study tests tunnel placement accuracy
NCT ID NCT06996145
First seen Mar 28, 2026 · Last updated May 06, 2026 · Updated 7 times
Summary
This study looked at whether the standard way surgeons place tunnels during ACL reconstruction keeps the new ligament at a constant length (isometric) as the knee bends. Researchers used MRI and a special 4D scanner to measure length changes in 30 healthy volunteers. The goal was to gather information to eventually create software that helps surgeons plan more precise, isometric tunnel placement.
