First seen Feb 14, 2026 · Last updated May 13, 2026 · Updated 15 times
Summary
This study tested whether adding blood flow restriction (BFR) training to standard physical therapy helps people recover better after ACL knee surgery. 36 adults aged 18-35 who had ACL reconstruction took part. The BFR group did the same exercises as the control group but with a cuff that partially restricts blood flow to the leg. Researchers measured muscle strength, knee awareness, movement, pain, and function before surgery and at 1.5 and 3 months after.
