Blood pressure pill pause may protect kidneys during heart procedure

NCT ID NCT07184918

First seen Oct 01, 2025 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 32 times

Summary

This study tested whether stopping a common blood pressure medicine (Ramipril) before a heart artery scan reduces the risk of kidney damage from the dye used. 44 adults were randomly assigned to either stop the medicine 2 days before the scan or keep taking it. Researchers measured kidney function and injury markers after the procedure to see which approach was safer.
