Cheap heart scan may replace costly test for chest pain patients
NCT ID NCT03972774
First seen Apr 23, 2026 · Last updated May 12, 2026 · Updated 7 times
Summary
This study looked at two ways to check for heart disease in people with chest pain. One group got a low-cost coronary calcium scan first, and only if needed, a more expensive PET stress test. The other group got the PET test right away. The goal was to see if the cheaper approach could save money without leading to more heart problems. The study was stopped early and included 48 adults aged 50 and older.
