Cricket fast bowlers get stronger arms: which training wins?
NCT ID NCT07440823
First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study looked at two different arm training methods for cricket fast bowlers: one that focuses on the muscle-lengthening phase (eccentric) and one that focuses on the muscle-shortening phase (concentric). 44 male fast bowlers aged 18-30 were randomly assigned to one of two 8-week training programs. Researchers measured changes in upper arm size, strength, and power to see which method works better.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
accentuated eccentric training and concentric training
What this could lead to
If this trial succeeds, it could provide evidence-based guidance for optimizing strength and conditioning programs for fast bowlers, potentially improving performance and reducing injury risk.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage study with only 44 participants, so results may not apply to all athletes. The interventions are exercise-based, so individual adherence and effort can affect outcomes.
