New study tests simple stretches to ease Bowler's shoulder pain

NCT ID NCT07062926

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study will compare two physical therapy techniques—Spencer Muscle Energy Technique and Post Facilitation Stretch—to see which better reduces shoulder pain and improves movement in fast bowlers. Thirty-two bowlers aged 18-35 with shoulder pain for at least 3 months will receive treatment three times a week for four weeks. Researchers will measure pain, range of motion, and arm function before and after treatment.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

Spencer Muscle Energy Technique and Post Facilitation Stretch

What this could lead to

If one technique proves better, it could give fast bowlers a simple, drug-free way to reduce shoulder pain and get back to bowling sooner.

What could go wrong

This is a small, early-stage study with only 32 people, so results may not apply to all bowlers or other athletes. It compares two manual therapies, not a new drug or cure.
