Glucose monitor guides pain relief trial for diabetic nerve damage
NCT ID NCT07436585
Summary
This study tested whether a diabetes medication called acarbose, when carefully adjusted using a continuous glucose monitor, could reduce pain in people with diabetic nerve damage. The trial involved 170 adults with type 2 diabetes who experienced painful neuropathy and unstable blood sugar levels. Pharmacists used glucose monitor data to adjust medication doses, aiming to smooth out blood sugar spikes and see if this reduced nerve pain over four weeks.
