New hope for anemia in leukemia: targeted drug shows promise
NCT ID NCT04657094
First seen May 13, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests a drug called acalabrutinib in people with chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) who also have a type of anemia (AIHA) that came back or didn't get better with standard treatment. The drug works by blocking certain enzymes that help cancer cells grow. The main goal is to see if the anemia improves after 6 cycles of treatment. Only 4 participants were enrolled, so results are very early.
