Heart attack drug: one shot into artery may be as good as long infusion
NCT ID NCT01080638
First seen May 16, 2026 · Last updated May 21, 2026 · Updated 2 times
Summary
This study tested whether giving a single dose of the blood thinner abciximab directly into the heart artery works as well as the standard method of giving it through a vein plus a 12-hour drip. The goal was to reduce the size of heart muscle damage in people having a mild heart attack (non-ST elevation MI) who also needed angioplasty. The study was stopped early, so results are limited.
