New PET tracer could spot hidden cancers

NCT ID NCT07593209

First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study is testing a new radioactive imaging agent called 68Ga-DOTA-EphA2 to help see certain proteins on cancer cells during PET/CT scans. The goal is to improve how doctors detect and monitor malignant tumors. About 30 adults with suspected or confirmed cancer will receive the agent and then have a scan to see where it goes in the body.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance
68Ga-DOTA-EphA2 (a radioactive imaging agent)
What this could lead to
If successful, this could provide a new way to detect and monitor certain cancers more accurately using PET/CT scans.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-phase study focused on imaging, not treatment. The agent may not work well for all tumor types, and there is a risk of side effects from the radioactive tracer.
