New MRI scan could replace painful liver needle test

NCT ID NCT07554183

First seen May 01, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 6 times

Summary

This study looks at whether a special 4D MRI scan can safely measure blood flow in the liver, replacing the current invasive needle test. 60 adults with cirrhosis will be scanned and compared to standard pressure measurements. If successful, it could make monitoring and predicting complications like bleeding or fluid buildup much easier and safer.
