New 3D-Printed guide could make dental implants cheaper and easier

NCT ID NCT07364006

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study tests whether 3D-printed surgical guides without metal sleeves can accurately place dental implants. Fifteen adults who need full-arch implants will receive implants using these guides. The researchers will compare the planned implant positions with the actual positions after surgery to see how accurate the guides are.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

3D-printed surgical guide without metal sleeves

What this could lead to

If successful, this could lead to cheaper, simpler dental implant surgery with fewer steps and less metal waste.

What could go wrong

This is a small early study with only 15 people, so results may not apply to everyone. The guides might be less accurate than metal-sleeve versions.
