Summary
This study followed 404 older adults for 10 years after hip fracture surgery to see if early signs of Alzheimer's disease in the brain are linked to higher death rates. Researchers measured Alzheimer's-related proteins in spinal fluid and assessed memory and thinking skills before the fracture. The goal is to understand how brain health affects long-term survival after a serious injury.
