Eye gel may replace needle for pterygium surgery numbing

This study tested whether a lidocaine gel placed on the eye works as well as a needle injection for numbing during pterygium surgery. The gel may cause less pain and dryness after the procedure. 41 adults having pterygium removal took part to compare comfort and side effects.
