Oligodendroglioma
MONDO:0016695A well-differentiated (WHO grade II), diffusely infiltrating neuroglial tumor, typically located in the cerebral hemispheres. It is composed predominantly of cells which morphologically resemble oligodendroglia. The neoplastic cells have rounded homogeneous nuclei and, on paraffin sections, a swollen, clear cytoplasm ('honeycomb' appearance). (Adapted from WHO)
Also known as: oligodendroglial neoplasm, oligodendroglial tumor, oligodendroglial tumour, WHO grade II oligodendroglial neoplasm, WHO grade II oligodendroglial tumor, WHO grade II oligodendroglial tumour, oligodendroglioma, well differentiated oligodendroglial tumor

Targeted drug pemigatinib tested in brain tumors with specific genetic markers
Disease control Stopped earlyThis phase 2 trial tested the drug pemigatinib in people with recurrent glioblastoma or other brain tumors that have specific changes in FGFR1-3 genes. Participants took a daily tablet for two weeks followed by one week off. The study aimed to see if the drug could shrink tumors,…

Antifungal drug tested against brain tumors – trial stopped early
Knowledge-focused Stopped earlyThis early-phase trial tested whether the antifungal drug ketoconazole could block a protein called tGLI1 in brain tumors. It included 15 people with breast cancer that spread to the brain or with a type of brain cancer called glioma. The study was terminated early, so we have li…

Spinal tap could replace brain surgery for young tumor patients
Knowledge-focused Stopped earlyThis study looked at whether a liquid biopsy—testing the fluid around the brain and spinal cord—can find tumor DNA in children and young adults with brain tumors. The goal was to see if this safer, non-surgical test could replace risky tissue biopsies for diagnosis and monitoring…

Brain tumor study looks at tiny molecule as possible clue
Knowledge-focused Stopped earlyThis study looked at a tiny molecule called microRNA-10b in people with brain tumors called gliomas. Researchers wanted to see if higher levels of this molecule could help predict how the disease might progress or how long patients might live. The study was stopped early, but it …
