Mentor moms: can peer support cut alcohol use and HIV risk in pregnancy?
NCT ID NCT06962592
First seen Nov 03, 2025
Summary
This study tests a program called Mentor Moms+ for pregnant women in South Africa who drink alcohol. Trained mentor mothers—women who have successfully reduced alcohol use while on HIV medication—provide one-on-one counseling sessions. The goal is to see if this approach helps women reduce alcohol use and stick to HIV prevention or treatment medications. One hundred pregnant women will take part and be followed for six months.
