Drones to the rescue: flying HIV meds to remote ugandan islands

NCT ID NCT06678022

First seen Feb 18, 2026

Summary

This study tests whether using medical drones to deliver HIV medications to people living in remote fishing communities on the islands of Kalangala District, Uganda, can help more people achieve an undetectable viral load compared to standard delivery methods. About 1,086 adults and teens (15 years and older) with HIV who are already on treatment will take part. Participants will have blood tests and questionnaires every 6 months for 2 years, and the drone group will get their monthly medication delivered to a nearby landing site instead of traveling to a clinic.
