First seen Apr 24, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 4 times
Summary
This study tested whether injecting a small amount of zoledronic acid, a drug that strengthens bone, near orthodontic miniscrews could help them stay in place. 68 people with braces who needed tooth extractions took part. Each person got the drug on one side of the mouth and a placebo on the other. The goal was to see if the drug side had fewer screw failures after 6 months.
