Could a cheap old drug beat blood cancer? lab study launches

NCT ID NCT04234022

First seen Jan 19, 2026 · Last updated Jun 11, 2026 · Updated 30 times

Summary

This study takes blood or bone marrow samples from 70 adults with multiple myeloma or acute leukemia to test a drug called Imuthiol (Zn-DDC) in the lab. Researchers want to see if Imuthiol, alone or with other drugs, can kill cancer stem cells. This is not a treatment study—it's a first step to see if the drug is worth testing in future human trials.
