New heel surgery aims to end painful bump, help patients walk again

NCT ID NCT07157319

Summary

This study is testing a specific heel bone surgery called a Zadek osteotomy for people with painful Haglund's syndrome, a condition causing a bony bump and Achilles tendon pain at the back of the heel. It will involve 30 adults whose pain hasn't improved after at least six months of non-surgical treatments like rest and shoe changes. Researchers will track if the surgery successfully reduces pain, improves walking and ankle motion, and changes the shape of the heel bone on X-rays over the short term.
