Ancient exercise may hold key to stronger muscles in aging adults
NCT ID NCT07753291
First seen Aug 07, 2026 · Last updated Sep 02, 2026 · Updated 4 times
Summary
This trial explores whether Yi Jin Jing, a traditional Chinese exercise, can improve muscle and bone health in adults aged 18 to 90. Participants will practice the exercise, and researchers will measure changes in muscle mass and handgrip strength. The goal is to see if this gentle practice can help prevent age-related muscle loss and frailty.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only, not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- Yi Jin Jing, a traditional Chinese mind-body exercise
- What this could lead to
- If effective, this traditional exercise could offer a simple, drug-free way to help adults preserve muscle mass and strength as they age, potentially reducing the risk of frailty and falls.
- What could go wrong
- This is a small study with 50 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. The exercise's benefits are uncertain, and adherence to the routine may vary.
